Quantity Surveyor & Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Infrastructure & Utilities
Location: Reading or South Coast (Southampton area)

An established infrastructure delivery partner is seeking commercially astute Assistant Quantity Surveyors and Quantity Surveyors to join its growing commercial team. These positions offer a fantastic opportunity to contribute to long-term frameworks in the utilities and infrastructure sector, working across essential civil engineering projects in the South of England.
The successful candidates will support the delivery of a portfolio of works across water, power, and multi-utility frameworks, ensuring robust commercial control and project governance from pre-construction through to final account.
Key Responsibilities
Support or lead on the commercial management of multiple work packages across utility infrastructure frameworks.
Prepare, submit, and negotiate applications for payment, variations, and final accounts.
Contribute to cost forecasting, CVRs, and cash flow reporting in line with project milestones.
Support or manage subcontract procurement and payment processes, ensuring compliance with contract terms (NEC or equivalent).
Liaise with delivery teams, clients, and suppliers to maintain strong commercial controls and accurate reporting.
Contribute to project performance reviews and drive value engineering opportunities.
Ensure adherence to all commercial procedures and project audit requirements.
About You
Experience in a quantity surveying role within the civil engineering or infrastructure sector is essential.
Background from a main contractor or consultancy will be considered.
Previous experience in utilities (water, power, or energy) is highly desirable.
Familiarity with NEC contracts and managing subcontractor accounts.
Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard commercial systems.
Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (HNC/Degree or equivalent).
